What are the key dimensions of this mainsail?

Accepted Answer

This 22m2 mainsail has the following key dimensions:

Luff: 10.7 meters
Foot: 3.9 meters
Leech: 11.17 meters
Sail Area: 22 square meters

Question 2

What is the condition of this mainsail?

Accepted Answer

This mainsail is described as “Lightly Used.” This indicates that the sail has seen some use but remains in good, serviceable condition, ready for continued performance. Resail is committed to offering high-quality used sails to ensure reliability for our customers.

Question 3

Which boat types is this mainsail suitable for?

Accepted Answer

This mainsail was originally made for a Beneteau Oceanis. However, its suitability for other boat types depends on matching its specific dimensions (Luff, Foot, Leech) to your boat’s rig measurements. Sailors should carefully compare these dimensions against their own mast and boom measurements for compatibility.

Question 4

What is the batten configuration of this mainsail?

Accepted Answer

This mainsail features a “1+3 batten” configuration, which means it has one full-length batten and three partial battens. Battens provide structure to the mainsail by supporting the roach (the area of sail that extends beyond a straight line from head to clew), help the sail maintain its designed shape, reduce flogging, and improve overall durability. Full-length battens contribute to shape retention and durability, especially in the upper sections, while partial battens allow the sail to respond quickly to trim changes.

Question 5

Who manufactured this mainsail?

Accepted Answer

This mainsail was manufactured by Elvstrom Sails. Elvstrom Sails is a leading European sail manufacturer, recognized for its innovation, technology, and production of sails for both cruising and racing purposes. They are a significant supplier to many top European yacht builders.

Question 6

How can I determine if this mainsail will fit my boat?

Accepted Answer

To determine if this mainsail will fit your boat, you should accurately measure your boat’s mast (P measurement) and boom (E measurement). The P measurement is the maximum hoist length from the top of your boom to the highest point your halyard can reach on the mast. The E measurement is the maximum length along your boom from the mast to the clew attachment point. Compare these measurements to the mainsail’s Luff (10.7m) and Foot (3.9m) dimensions. It is generally more accurate to measure directly on your mast and boom rather than relying on an old sail.
