Accepted Answer

Nordac is a proprietary sailcloth technology developed by North Sails. It transforms traditional polyester (Dacron) fibers into a unified composite structure using a 3Di molding process. This results in sails that offer enhanced shape holding and longevity compared to conventional woven Dacron sails, while maintaining durability and high resistance to UV and flex.

The dimensions for this 13.38m2 mainsail are:

Luff: 7.19 meters

Leech: 7.97 meters
Sail Area: 13.38 square meters

Question 4

What type of sailing is this mainsail suitable for?

Accepted Answer

This mainsail is well-suited for a range of sailing activities, including coastal cruising and club racing. Its durable Nordac construction, partial battens, and single reef point provide a balance of performance, control, and ease of handling for various wind conditions.

Question 5

How should I maintain this Dacron mainsail?

Accepted Answer

Proper maintenance extends the life and performance of your Dacron mainsail:

Rinse the sail with fresh water and allow it to dry thoroughly after use, especially if exposed to salt spray, to prevent mildew and abrasive salt crystal buildup.
Minimize flogging (flapping) of the sail, as this can degrade the cloth and shape.
Protect the sail from prolonged UV exposure when not in use, ideally with a sail cover.
Regularly inspect sliders, battens, and batten pockets for any signs of wear or damage.

Question 6

Is this mainsail new or used?

Accepted Answer

While Resail specializes in giving used sails a second life, this particular 13.38m2 mainsail is new. It offers the performance and reliability of a new North Sails product.
