Question 1

What is the purpose of this Jib Cover?

Accepted Answer

This Jib Cover is designed to protect your furled headsail when it remains rigged on your boat. It shields the sail from damaging UV rays, wind, rain, mildew, and pollution. Using a jib cover also helps prevent the sail from unfurling unexpectedly in high winds, extending its lifespan and maintaining its performance for many more sailing seasons.

Question 2

What are the dimensions of this Jib Cover?

Accepted Answer

This Jib Cover measures 90cm x 90cm x 90cm, making it suitable for a small boat’s jib. The dimensions refer to the length of the cover, designed to encompass your furled jib along its length. It features a zipper for secure closure. To ensure a proper fit, measure the length and approximate circumference of your furled jib.

Question 3

What material is this Jib Cover made from?

Accepted Answer

Jib covers are typically crafted from durable, UV-resistant marine-grade fabrics such as marine polyester or acrylic. These materials, like Sunbrella Marine Grade or Weather Max, are chosen for their ability to withstand harsh marine environments, protecting your sail from sun exposure and weather elements.

Question 4

How do I install this Jib Cover?

Accepted Answer

Installation involves hoisting the cover over your furled jib. First, ensure your jib is correctly furled. You can then use an available halyard (such as your mainsail or spinnaker halyard) to raise the cover up the furled sail. Once in position, close the full-length zipper to secure the cover snugly around the jib.

Question 5

How should I care for and maintain this Jib Cover?

Accepted Answer

Regular maintenance is key to extending the life of your jib cover. Begin by brushing off any loose dirt, leaves, or debris. Clean the cover with a mixture of lukewarm water and a mild soap, gently scrubbing with a soft-bristled brush or sponge. Avoid using harsh chemicals or pressure washers, as these can damage the fabric. Rinse the cover thoroughly with fresh water to remove all soap residue and allow it to air dry completely before folding or storing.

Question 6

What condition is this Jib Cover in?

Accepted Answer

This Jib Cover is in an “As new” condition. Resail is committed to offering high-quality used sailing equipment, giving proven items a second life. This cover has been carefully inspected to ensure it meets our standards, providing reliable protection for your sail. This aligns with our mission to make sustainable sailing accessible, reducing waste and environmental impact.

Question 7

Is this Jib Cover suitable for any small boat?

Accepted Answer

This 90cm Jib Cover is designed for small boats with furling jibs. While it offers versatile protection, it’s essential to compare its dimensions (90cm length) with your furled jib to ensure a proper fit. A well-fitting cover provides optimal protection against UV damage and weather.
