Question 1

What are the key dimensions and features of this mainsail?

Accepted Answer

This mainsail has a sail area of 41 m2, with a luff of 12.6 meters, a foot of 4.85 meters, and a leech of 13.55 meters. It is constructed from Dacron in a Square Triradial cut. The sail features 2 reefs for sail area reduction, 3 partial battens, and 1 full batten, providing support and shape control.

Question 2

What does "Dacron Square Triradial" mean for the sail's construction and performance?

Accepted Answer

Dacron is a woven polyester fabric, widely used for cruising and club racing sails due to its durability, UV resistance, and ease of handling. The Triradial cut refers to a panel layout where panels radiate from the three corners of the sail (head, clew, and tack). This design aligns the sailcloth yarns with the primary load paths, which helps in maintaining the sail’s designed shape, distributing loads efficiently, and reducing long-term stretch. This construction typically offers improved shape stability and consistent aerodynamic efficiency over time.

Question 3

What is the condition of this mainsail?

Accepted Answer

This mainsail is in a used condition. Resail specializes in providing high-quality, proven used sails, extending their lifecycle and offering a sustainable option for sailors.

Question 4

Can the sail be cleaned before shipping?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the sailmaker can wash the sail before shipping for an additional cost of 150€.

Question 5

What type of sailing is this mainsail suitable for?

Accepted Answer

Given its Dacron material and Triradial cut, this mainsail is well-suited for both cruisers and club racers. Dacron offers a balance of durability and performance for various conditions, while the triradial construction enhances shape retention and performance.

Question 6

Who is the manufacturer of this mainsail?

Accepted Answer

This mainsail was produced by PHELIPON. Patrick Phelipon is a recognized French yacht designer and builder with a long history in sailing.
