Question 1

What are the key specifications and materials of this jib?

Accepted Answer

This is a 6.06 m² jib made from hard-coated Dacron. Its dimensions are: Luff 5.15 m, Foot 2.4 m, and Leech 4.85 m. It features a stainless wire in the luff and comes with a long rollbag for storage.

Question 2

What are the benefits of Dacron with a hard coating and a stainless wire in the luff?

Accepted Answer

Dacron is a durable polyester fabric known for its strength, UV resistance, and abrasion resistance, making it suitable for cruising and club racing. The hard coating helps stabilize the weave and enhances the sail’s shape retention. A stainless wire in the luff provides structural integrity and helps maintain luff tension, often indicating suitability for a luff groove system or a furling setup.

Question 3

What does "ex Pampus (6m)" signify, and what type of boat is this jib suitable for?

Accepted Answer

“Ex Pampus (6m)” indicates that this jib was previously used on a Pampus 16m2 dinghy, a popular Dutch sailboat class. With a sail area of 6.06 m² and the provided dimensions, this jib is suitable for Pampus 16m2 dinghies or other sailboats requiring a jib of similar size and characteristics.

Question 4

What is the expected condition of this used jib?

Accepted Answer

As a used sail from Resail, this jib is functional and has been selected for its quality. Resail focuses on providing proven sails that retain strong sailcloth, usable shape, and reliable stitching, offering performance without compromise.

Question 5

Who is the producer "NED31"?

Accepted Answer

NED31 is a sailmaking and production company established in 1995, with headquarters in Sneek, The Netherlands, and production facilities in Romania. They are specialists in producing high-quality sails.

Question 6

How should I care for this Dacron jib?

Accepted Answer

To maintain your Dacron jib, rinse it with fresh water after use to remove salt, then dry it thoroughly before storage to prevent mildew. When stowing, roll the sail rather than folding it to avoid damaging creases. Protect it from prolonged UV exposure by storing it in its rollbag or a sail cover when not in use. Minimizing flogging and chafe will also extend its lifespan.
