Sail Area: 5.63 m²
Luff: 5.7 meters
Foot: 2.5 meters
Leech: 5.4 meters

Question 2

What material is this jib made from?

Accepted Answer

This jib is made from Dacron. Dacron (Polyester) is a common sailcloth known for its durability, strength, good shape retention, and resistance to UV and mildew, making it a reliable choice for cruising and some racing sails.

Question 3

What is the condition of this jib?

Accepted Answer

This jib is in used condition. Resail specializes in providing high-quality used sails, extending their lifecycle and offering a sustainable alternative for sailors without compromising performance.

Question 4

What are "soft hanks" and "short battens"?

Accepted Answer

Soft Hanks: These are lightweight, flexible fittings that attach the luff (front edge) of the jib to the forestay, allowing the sail to be hoisted and lowered. They are an alternative to traditional metal hanks, offering advantages like being chafe-resistant and not corroding.
Short Battens: Also known as leech battens, these are stiff strips inserted into pockets along the leech (back edge) of the sail. Their purpose is to support the leech, help maintain the sail’s shape, increase sail area, improve aerodynamics, and prevent the leech from flogging (flapping uncontrollably).

Question 5

What type of boat is this jib suitable for?

Accepted Answer

This jib was originally used on a Nordic Folkboat. Nordic Folkboats are classic designs known for their suitability for both learning to sail and coastal cruising. Given its dimensions and features, it is well-suited for similar keelboats used by cruisers and club racers.

Question 6

Why consider a used jib from Resail?

Accepted Answer

Choosing a used jib from Resail supports sustainable sailing practices by extending the lifecycle of proven sails. This approach reduces waste and the environmental impact associated with new sail production. Resail provides a smart alternative for cruisers and club racers seeking quality sails.
