Question 2

What are the key dimensions of this JIB 42 M2 sail?

Accepted Answer

The key dimensions of this jib are:

Luff: 15.7 meters
Foot: 5.45 meters
Leech: 14.59 meters

Question 3

What material is this sail made from?

Accepted Answer

This sail is constructed from a “Body Sail film on film” material. This typically refers to a film/film laminate sailcloth, where high-modulus fibers are laid between two layers of polyester film (such as Mylar). This construction is valued for its excellent shape retention, resistance to stretch, and is commonly used in high-performance racing sails.

Question 4

What is the condition of this jib?

Accepted Answer

This jib is in a used condition. Resail specializes in providing high-quality used sails, ensuring that proven sails receive a second life, contributing to sustainable sailing without compromising performance or trust.

Question 5

What are the specific features of this jib?

Accepted Answer

This jib includes several specific features:

4 Battens: These are structural elements inserted into pockets in the sail to help maintain its designed shape and improve performance.
Head 5 cm: This measurement refers to the width of the sail at its head.
HF 6: This is a specific code or measurement from the sailmaker, likely indicating a particular design or characteristic.
Feeder 55 cm: A sail feeder is a device designed to guide the luff tape of the sail smoothly into the mast track or furler foil, making hoisting easier and preventing snags. The ’55 cm’ may refer to the length or dimension of a compatible feeder system.
Cut Back 6 cm: This indicates a design feature or modification, often at the foot or leech of the sail, to optimize its shape for improved airflow, performance, or to fit specific boat configurations.

Question 6

How can I determine if this jib is suitable for my sailboat?

Accepted Answer

To assess suitability, compare the luff (15.7m), foot (5.45m), leech (14.59m), and sail area (42 m²) of this jib with your boat’s specifications and existing sail plan. Consider your mast height, forestay length, and the dimensions of your current headsails. Consulting your boat’s manual or a rigging professional can help ensure a proper fit and optimal performance.
